It’s not a secret that I like whole foods. I like to cook, create, and nourish myself with fresh ingredients that include a variety of health-boosting herbs and spices. When I’m not out enjoying the sunshine, a favorite weekend activity is cooking a pot or two of hearty chili or stew to have easy meals for the coming week.
These easy meals make great leftovers but aren’t always convenient on-the-go nourishment.
Enter my new discovery—Heather’s Choice. Inspired by adventure and designed as backpacking food, Heather’s Choice meals have become my new favorite on-the-go refueling option.
Now, I’m not typically a fan of backpacking meals. They are often filled with milk solids, starches, coloring, and preservatives. Not Heather’s Choice. These meals are satisfying, filling, beyond flavorful, and made with wholesome, quality ingredients.
Because I often have errands to run after a late-morning or noon workout, my lunch break either gets delayed (resulting in a blood sugar crash…not good for metabolic health), or I grab a bite to eat at a local eatery.
Blood sugar dips and spikes affect everything from energy and mood to cortisol, metabolism, and stress responses.
I now take these lightweight, packable meals as my post-workout fuel. I pour in 10 ounces of hot water, stir the packet, and in 20 minutes—the time it takes to clean up after a workout—I have a hot meal.

My meal is complete. My energy is restored. And I have been well-nourished to continue my day.
